Gomez and Onodera named to United Soccer Coaches All-Region III Team
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Two members of the RIT women's soccer team were named to the 2023 United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Region III Team. Senior midfielder Jessie Gomez was a first team selection, while sophomore forward Elena Onodera was a second team selection.
Gomez started all 20 games and was third on the team in scoring with 12 points on five goals and two assists. The 2023 First Team All-Liberty League selection led the team and league with three game-winning goals scored against No. 22 Clarkson, Bard and St. Lawrence.
Onodera led the Tigers in scoring with a career-high 15 points on six goals, including a game-winner against Wheaton (IL), and three assists. The 2023 First Team All-Liberty League selection started all 20 games, earned a .571 shots on goal percentage and led the team in shots on goal with 24.
RIT finished the season 9-6-5 overall and earned an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in 2023.
