Women's Lacrosse loses 14-11 at Clarkson
POTSDAM, N.Y. – RIT senior Lily DePalma and junior Adele Jones each scored four goals in the Tigers 14-11 loss at Clarkson, Saturday.
Junior Jenna Bovenzi scored two goals and junior Zoe Heffernan had two assists. Sophomore Katherine Killian scored a goal, and junior Morgan Nichter had an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Makenna Cassin scored 45 seconds into the first period to give Clarkson the lead.
- DePalma tied the game on her goal with 9:37 remaining in the frame.
- Madelynn Barnum and Lauren Shanahan tallied back-to-back goals to give the Golden Knights a 3-1 lead after the first 15 minutes.
- Jones scored 56 seconds into the second quarter to cut Clarkson's lead to 3-2.
- Sydney Nakas scored for Clarkson to make it 4-2 followed by a DePalma goal with 12:56 to play in the half that cut the deficit to 4-3.
- Barnum made it 5-3 and Jones scored her second goal of the quarter with 9:03 remaining to make it 5-4.
- Clarkson scored the final four goals of the quarter, taking a 9-5 lead on Shanahan's goal with one second remaining in the half.
- Cassin scored midway through the third quarter to give Clarkson a 10-4 lead.
- RIT scored three straight goals, cutting the Golden Knight's lead to 10-7 on DePalma's goal with 3:37 to play in the quarter.
- Barnum and Kaitlyn McNamara scored back-to-back goals late in the third to give Clarkson a 12-7 lead.
- RIT scored the first four goals of the fourth quarter. Bovenzi scored to make it 12-8 followed by a goal from sophomore Katherine Killian to cut Clarkson's lead to 12-9.
- DePalma scored a free-position goal with 8:34 to play to make it 12-10 and Bovenzi scored with 7:58 to play to make it a one-goal game.
- Barnum scored the final two goals including one with 4:53 to play to make it a 14-11 final.

- Junior Ellie Ruddy made seven saves and first year Grace McDonald made four stops
- Jones led RIT with 10 draw controls and Nichter had four ground balls.
- RIT was 14-of-16 on clearing attempts and won 15-of-28 draw controls
