Women's Lacrosse loses 14-13 to Skidmore
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore attack Serafina Kiselgof scored four goals in the Tigers 14-13 loss to Skidmore, Wednesday.
Junior midfielder Lily DePalma scored three goals and four points. Sophomore midfielder Morgan Nichter tallied two goals and an assist, while sophomore attack Adele Jones and senior attack Carrissa Hlywa each tallied a goal and two assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nichter scored a woman-up goal with 13:01 remaining in the first quarter to give RIT the lead.
- Skidmore scored three straight goals, taking a 3-1 lead on Lily Hudner's goal with 5:07 to play in the opening frame.
- Kiselgof scored back-to-back goals, tying the score on her second goal of the quarter off an assist from Hlywa with 1:46 remaining.
- Skidmore's Lily Schwartzman tallied two straight goals to give the Thoroughbreds a 5-3 lead after the first 15 minutes.
- Hlywa scored off an assist from Jones early in the second quarter to cut the Skidmore lead to 5-4.
- After a Schwartzman goal gave Skidmore a two-goal lead, RIT rattled off four straight goals, taking an 8-6 lead on DePalma's goal with 3:23 remaining in the first half.
- Jillian Lockwood scored to cut the RIT lead to 8-7 early in the third quarter, and Hudner scored with 7:11 to play to tie the game at 8-8.
- DePalma scored her second of the game with 6:35 remaining in the third to give the Tigers a 9-8 lead.
- Hudner scored again to tie the score at 9-9 before sophomore midfielder Kate Trojan scored with 4:21 remaining to give RIT a 10-9 lead.
- Elizabeth Walsh scored the first of her four goals with 1:52 to play in the third to tie the score at 10-10.
- Jones scored with two seconds remaining in the third to give the Tigers an 11-10 lead.
- Walsh scored three of the Thoroughbreds four fourth-quarter goals, including a woman-down goal with 9:55 remaining to give Skidmore a 14-11 lead.
- DePalma scored off an assist from Nichter to cut the Skidmore lead to 14-12, and Nichter scored with 47 seconds remaining to make it a 14-13 final.
GAME NOTES
- Skidmore outshot RIT, 31-26
- Sophomore goalie Ellie Ruddy made 10 saves for the Tigers.
- First-year defender Katherine Killian won six draw controls, caused two turnovers and had four ground balls.
- RIT was 13-of-17 on clearing attempts and won 16-of-31 draw controls.
