Women's Lacrosse beats St. Lawrence 13-9 on Senior Day
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior Milena Stephen tied her career high scoring four goals to lead the Tigers to a 13-9 win over St. Lawrence on Senior Day, Saturday. The Tigers clinched the No. 3 seed in the Liberty League Tournament.
Junior Jenna Bovenzi recorded a career-high six points on two goals and four assists. Senior Lily DePalma and junior Morgan Nichter each had a goal and two assists. Junior Adele Jones and sophomore Sarah Hallinan each scored two goals and junior Kate Trojan finished with a goal and an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Stephen scored 41 seconds into the game to give RIT an early lead.
- Nichter scored with 13:16 remaining in the opening quarter to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
- St. Lawrence scored back-to-back goals, tying the score at 2-2 on Lily Stanton's goal.
- RIT ran off three straight goals, extending its lead to 5-2 on Bovenzi's goal with 3:53 to play in the opening frame.
- Neve Ley scored two straight goals, cutting the Tiger's lead to 5-4 on her goal early in the second quarter.
- Hallinan and Trojan tallied back-to-back goals to give RIT a 7-4 lead with 8:23 remaining in the first half.
- Phoebe Spaeth scored and Stephen tallied her second goal of the first half to give RIT an 8-5 lead at intermission.
- RIT outscored St. Lawrence 4-0 in the second quarter to extend its lead to 12-5. Jones, Stephen, Hallinan and Bovenzi each scored for the Tigers.
- Spaeth and Ashley Mudd tallied two straight goals to cut RIT's lead to 12-9 early in the fourth quarter.
- Stephen tallied her fourth goal of the game with 6:34 remaining to give the Tigers a 13-7 lead.
- Caroline Hamilton scored two straight goals inside the final two minutes to make it a 13-9 final.

- St. Lawrence outshot RIT, 31-23
- Junior Ellie Ruddy made four saves while first year Grace McDonald made nine stops in the second half
- Sophomore defender Katherine Killian had two draw controls and six ground balls. Stephen led RIT with 11 draw controls
- RIT was 16-of-22 on clearing attempts and won 19-of-26 draw controls
- RIT qualifies for the Liberty League Tournament for the first time since 2018.
