Women's Lacrosse loses 20-19 in OT at Rochester
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore Serafina Kiselgof tallied a career-high six goals and nine points in the Tigers 20-19 overtime loss at Rochester, Wednesday. Rochester's Alyssa Gorny scored the game-winner 2:06 into overtime.
Senior attack Carrissa Hlywa scored a career-best five goals, while sophomore midfielder Morgan Nichter handed out a career-high four assists. First-year defender Katherine Kilian won a season-best 13 draw controls and sophomore midfielder Kate Trojan scored three goals.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Rochester's Anna Rogers scored 59 seconds into the game and Gorney scored with 13:22 remaining in the opening quarter to give Rochester a 2-0 lead.
- Kiselgof scored off an assist from Nichter to make it 2-1 and Hlywa scored with 10:33 to play to cut the Yellowjackets lead to 3-2.
- Rochester scored two straight goals to take a 5-2 lead before first-year attack Emma Ripley scored off a feed from Kiselgof to cut the deficit to 5-3.
- Emily Schillinger and Gracie Giannettino tallied back-to-back goals in the last five minutes of the quarter to give Rochester a 7-3 lead.
- RIT outscored the Yellowjackets 6-4 in the second quarter. Kiselgof and Hlywa each scored two goals in the quarter while sophomore attack Jenna Bovenzi had a goal and an assist in the frame.
- Hlywa and Kiselgof scored back-to-back goals late in the quarter to cut the Rochester lead to 11-9 at halftime.
- Hlywa made it 11-10 on her goal early in the third quarter.
- Kiselgof scored off an assist from Bovenzi with 11:06 to play in the quarter to make it 12-11.
- A pair of Grace Crochiere goals extended the Yellowjackets lead to 14-11, but Hlywa and Nichter answered with back-to-back goals, cutting the Rochester lead to 14-13 on Nichter's goal with 4:41 remaining.
- Trojan scored to make it 15-14, Rochester, and junior midfielder Lily DePalma scored with 1:15 to play to tie the game at 15-15.
- Crochiere scored to give Rochester a 16-15 lead before Kiselgof scored with two seconds remaining to tie the score at 16-16
- RIT scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter, taking an 18-16 lead on DePalma's goal with 13:00 remaining.
- Rochester ran off three straight goals, taking a 19-18 lead on Giannettino's goal with 9:42 to play.
- That score remained tied until Trojan scored off a feed from Nichter with 1:54 to play, knotting the game up a 19-19.
- Gorney scored with 3:54 to play in overtime to make it a 20-19 final.
GAME NOTES:
- Rochester outshot RIT, 38-34.
- The Tigers went 10-of-11 on clears ad had 12 ground balls.
- RIT won 23-of-42 draws and went 6-of-8 on free position shots.
- Sophomore goalie Ellie Ruddy made eight saves in net.
