Men's Soccer ties RPI, 2-2

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT men's soccer team tied Rensselaer 2-2 in Liberty League action, Saturday. Sophomore forwards Idriss Diallo and Roman Mironenko each scored for the Tigers.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • RPI's Matt Schlotterbeck scored in the 36th minute to give the Engineers the lead.
  • Diallo tied the game in the 78th minute. He drove in from 40 yards out and fired a shot from the top of RPI's penalty box into the corner to tie the game at 1-1.
  • Mironenko scored in the 88th minute to give RIT a 2-1 lead. Sophomore defender Adrian Sobczak sent in a corner kick. Mironenko rose above the RPI defenders and headed in a shot.
  • Joshua Jarden scored in the 89th minute on a scrum in front of the RIT goal to make it a 2-2 final.

 
GAME NOTES:

  • RIT outshot Rensselaer, 13-10.
  • RIT had eight corner kicks to four for the Engineers.
  • Sophomore goalie Kristian Dobbek made three saves for RIT.
