Women's Hockey posts 3-1 loss at No. 14 Northeastern

BOSTON – The RIT Women's Hockey team fell, 3-1, at No. 14 Northeastern, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Junior Emma Pickering scored at 11:12 of the first off assists from senior Jaidan Fahrny and sophomore Brac Kelley for a 1-0 lead that lasted into the third period.
  • Northeastern broke the shutout bid at 1:39 of the third and tallied again at 6:25 for a 2-1 lead.
  • The Huskies tacked on an empty-net goal at 18:41 to put the game out of reach. 

GAME NOTES

  • Northeastern completed the two-game sweep after also needing to come back for a 3-2 win on Friday on a third-period power play goal.
  • Senior goaltender Sophia Bellina continued her strong play, notching 29 saves after logging 35 on Friday.
  • Northeastern finished with a 32-18 shot advantage.
  • Neither team scored a power play goal as RIT killed two penalties and Northeastern three.
  • In addition to her first goal of the season, Pickering blocked a season-high five shots. 

WHAT'S NEXT
RIT opens Atlantic Hockey America play with a trip to Robert Morris for two games next Friday and Saturday (Oct. 10-11). Both games are scheduled to faceoff at 7:00 p.m.
