ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT first-year forward Faye Kaplinski and sophomore guard Ansley Orrell led the Tigers with 10 points each as the women's basketball team lost to Vassar, 76-51, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Orrell made two free throws, giving RIT a 5-4 lead with 7:02 left in the first
- Vassar finished the first quarter outscoring the Tigers 18-10, taking a 21-15 lead after the first ten of minutes of play
- Vassar started the second on a 5-0 run, until first-year guard Lauren Sabia connected from behind the arc, cutting Vassar's lead to eight with 7:57 left in the quarter
- Kaplinski made two free throws at 3:58, cutting Vassar's lead to seven
- Vassar took a 10-point lead at the half
- Sophomore guard Erin DiPaola scored on a driving layup at 5:40 in the third to cut Vassar's lead to four
- Vassar went on a 9-0 run over the next two minutes, taking a 50-37 lead
- Senior guard Emma Waite made one of two free throws with 11 seconds left in the third, cutting Vassar's lead to 10 points
- Vassar made a shot from beyond the arc as time expired in the third, taking a 57-44 lead after three quarters of play
- Vassar outscored RIT 19-7 in the fourth quarter, securing a 25 victory over the Tigers

- The Tigers were 14-for-20 (70%) from the free throw line
- Kaplinski grabbed a team-high nine rebounds
- Vassar out-rebounded RIT 42-40
