Women's Basketball comes up short against Union, falling 67-62
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior guard Kaitlyn Bockelman scored 22 points as the women's basketball team lost to Union, 67-62, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A driving layup from sophomore Ansley Orrell tied the game at six with 6:07 left in the first
- Union went on a 8-0 run over the next four minutes, taking a 14-6 lead
- The Tigers scored seven unanswered points for the remainder of the quarter, cutting Union's lead to one after the first ten minutes of play
- Union started the second quarter on a 8-0 scoring run
- A three pointer from Bockelman cut Union's lead to six with 6:03 left in the half
- Union connected from behind the arc, putting the Tigers behind 11 with 4:04 left in the quarter
- Senior guard Emma Waite closed out the half with a driving layup, cutting Union's lead to eight after two quarters of play
- A made layup from Waite put the Tigers behind 43-39 with 4:15 left in the third
- Three minutes later, junior forward Sydney Pearson made one free throw, tying the game at 43
- RIT was tied with Union 46-46 at the end of the third
- A made free throw gives Union a 51-50 lead with 8:22 left in the fourth
- Bockelman made a jump shot on the next possession, putting the Tigers in front by one
- Union connected from behind the arc, taking a 61-57 lead with 4:13 left in the game
- Junior guard Lila McGuiggin made a driving layup with 3:01 left on the clock, putting RIT within two
- Union finished the game outscoring the Tigers 6-3, taking a 67-62 victory over RIT

- Bockelman was 7-for-10 (70%) from the floor
- RIT outrebounded Union 43-41
- Waite had a team-high nine rebounds

The Tigers close out the regular season hosting Bard tomorrow (Feb. 17) for senior day, with tipoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
