Women's Volleyball falls to Skidmore, 3-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's volleyball team lost 3-1 (25-15, 25-18, 11-25, 25-20) to visiting Skidmore in Liberty League action, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Skidmore led, 5-3, in the first set before pushing their lead to seven, 11-4, with a 6-1 run. An 8-2 surge later pushed the Thoroughbreds to a 20-8 lead it would not relinquish.
  • Tied, 9-9, in the second, Skidmore scored five-consecutive points for a 14-9 lead. RIT battled back within two, 16-14, but the Thoroughbreds put together a 5-0 run for a 21-14 lead and later scored three-unanswered points to close the set.
  • RIT jumped out to a 10-6 third-set lead and later rode a 5-0 run to a 19-9 edge. The Tigers finished the set with a 6-1 run to complete a 14-point victory.
  • Leading 8-7 in the fourth, Skidmore built a 12-7 edge with four-straight points. RIT bounced back with a 5-2 run to pull within two, 14-12, and after two Skidmore points, rattled off five points to take a 17-16 lead. The Thoroughbreds notched four of the next five points to retake a 20-18 lead and later finished the set with four unanswered points to close the match. 

MATCH NOTES

  • First-year outside hitter Macie Jolliffe totaled seven kills and 10 digs.
  • Senior setter Sydney Neff added 29 assists and 11 digs.
  • Junior middle Cat Vento was credited with seven kills and four blocks.

RIT hosts Fredonia next Friday (Nov. 3) at 5:00 p.m. in the final home match of the regular season.
