Women's Volleyball defats Waynesburg, 3-1, falls to Mount Aloysius, 3-0
CRESSON, Pa. – The RIT Women's Volleyball team split a tri-match hosted by Mount Aloysius, Saturday. The Tigers started with a 3-1 (25-12, 27-25, 21-25, 25-21) win over Waynesburg before falling to the host Mounties, 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-8).

- Leading by one, 11-10, in the first set, RIT finished with a 14-2 run to take the opener. Junior Mia Gerber totaled four kills during a 7-1 surge to start the run before later serving five-consecutive aces as the Tigers finished the set with seven unanswered points.
- Waynesburg responded by taking a 10-5 lead to start the second before the Tigers came back to tie the score, 11-11, with a 6-1 surge. Waynesburg retook a 17-12 lead and later led, 20-15, before RIT notched five-straight points, to knot the score, 20-20. The Tigers moved to set point with a 4-2 run, but Waynesburg scored back-to-back points to knot the score, 24-24. Two points later, RIT closed the set on kills by first-years Anna Wasula and Julianna Frumusa to build a 2-0 lead.
- Waynesburg led, 13-8, in the third before RIT tied the score, 14-14, following a 6-1 run. Later tied, 17-17, Waynesburg used a 6-1 run to take a 23-18 lead. The Tigers bounced back with three-straight points, but Waynesburg scored the final two points to take the set.
- RIT led, 9-7, to start the fourth. Waynesburg took a 10-9 lead with three-straight points, but the Tigers used a 5-2 run for a 14-12 lead. Waynesburg got within one on three occasions, including 19-18, before RIT used a 5-1 run to put the match out of reach.

- RIT led, 7-5, in the first set, but Mount Aloysius used a 13-3 run to build a 17-10 lead that proved decisive.
- Falling behind, 10-2, to start the second, RIT scored the next five points to pull back within three, 10-7. The Mounties responded with a 10-4 run for a 20-11 lead en route to a 2-0 lead.
- Tied, 2-2, early in the third, Mount Aloysius scored 10 of the next 11 points for a 12-3 lead. RIT got as close as eight, 14-6, but the Mounties finished the match with a 11-2 run, including six unanswered, to earn the sweep.

RIT hosts Alfred State (11:00 a.m.) and Brockport (3:00 p.m.) next Saturdy (Sept. 13) for a tri-match.
