RIT Athletics Preview: April 8-14
SOFTBALL
The Tigers split their Liberty League home-opener against Rochester on Saturday, winning 1-0 (8 inn.) then losing 14-0 (5 inn.).
In game one, junior Maddy Cook hit the game-winning single that scored junior Bailey Kehl in extra innings.
RIT hosts Brockport, St. Lawrence and Clarkson in a series of doubleheaders this week.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
The Tigers went 1-1 this past weekend, beating Bard 19-0 on Friday, before losing to Vassar 17-11 on Saturday.
Senior Carrissa Hlywa and sophomore Serafina Kiselgof each scored four goals in Friday's win.

BASEBALL
The Tigers lost a three-game series to Ithaca, 2-1 this past weekend, losing the first two games (3-1 and 3-2) and winning game three, 5-3.
Sophomore first baseman Trent Rapp went 2-for-5 and earned the game-winning RBI in the Tigers' 5-3 win Sunday.
RIT travels to Hobart on Wednesday, before hosting RPI in a doubleheader on Saturday for Senior Day.

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
The Tigers finished in second-place out of 13 teams at the U of R Invitational, Sunday.
Sophomore Sadie Rose lowered her own program record in winning the 400 with an Atlantic Region Championships qualifying time of 56.01. Rose also lowered her own program record in winning the 200 finishing in 24.50, while junior Caroline Hill placed fourth in 25.67, both Atlantic Region qualifiers. The 4x400 relay team of sophomore Samantha Crisci, Hill, senior Violet Ameele and Rose, placed first with an Atlantic Region qualifying time of 4:01.42. Graduate student Amelia Gilbert finished fifth in the 1,500 with an Atlantic Region qualifying time of 4:45.65 and graduate student Sydney Burgard placed fifth in the 5,000 (18:33.22), qualifying for Atlantic Regionals.
The Tigers split up this weekend, competing at the Brockport Invitational and the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell.

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
The Tigers placed fifth out of 13 teams at the U of R Invitational, Sunday.
Senior Andrew Bernacki won the javelin throw with a distance of 56.64m, while first-year Jacen Mitchell finished second in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.56. First-year Jack DeFeo earned second-place in the 400 (49.52). The 4x400 relay team of junior Max Stein, sophomore Ryan Senf, sophomore Josh Bedford and DeFeo, finished second with an Atlantic Region Championship qualifying time of 3:22.16. Stein finished second in the 400 hurdles with an Atlantic Region Championship qualifying time of 54.60.

WOMEN'S ROWING
The Tigers raced against Ithaca, Rochester and William Smith on Saturday.
The first Varsity-8 boat finished third in both their first and second races, beating Rochester. The second Varsity-8 boat finished fourth in their first race and finished third in their second race, beating Rochester by 17.3 seconds. The Novice Eight finished fourth to Ithaca's Novice Eight, William Smith's third Varsity-8 boat, and Rochester's third Varsity-8 boat. The Tigers' Varsity-4 boat finished 19 seconds behind Ithaca, earning second place.
RIT races at WPI on Sunday.

MEN'S ROWING
The Tigers raced against Ithaca and Rochester on Saturday.
The first Varsity-8 boat finished second to Ithaca and beat Rochester with a time of 7:03.0. The second and third Varsity-8 boats finished second and third to Ithaca, with times of 6:55.7 and 7:24.2 respectively. Due to weather conditions, the Tigers' Varsity-4 boat competed in a 750 meter race and finished third to Ithaca and Rochester. The Novice Four finished second to Rochester.
