Men's Cross Country finishes fifth at Liberty League Championships

GENEVA, N.Y. - RIT junior Matt Chaikowsky finishes in 14th place out of 103 runners to lead the men's cross country team to fifth place at the Liberty League Championships, Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Chaikowsky completed the eight-kilometer course in 25:31.2, being RIT's top runner for the first time this season
  • Sophomore Evan Owens finished in 27th (26:03.2), followed by fellow sophomore Joe Krenzer in 33rd (26:13.3) and senior Nathan Ballay in 41st (26:35.6)
  • Senior Zachary Eckhardt placed 43rd (26:38.5), while first-year Turner Gill finished in 46th (26:45.7) and first-year Steven McChesney finished 51st (27:00.4)
  • RPI won the team title with 26 points, followed by Vassar (59), St. Lawrence (66), Union (114) and RIT (130) in the top-five

WHAT'S NEXT
The Tigers will run in the NCAA Division III Niagara Region Championships hosted by Houghton at the Field of Dreams Cross Country Course on Saturday, Nov. 11.
