Bovenzi Inducted into New York State Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT wrestling coach Jason Bovenzi was inducted into the New York State Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame on February 24.
 
Bovenzi is in his eighth season at RIT, leading the Tigers to a 6-1 record in dual meets in 2023-24. Bovenzi has guided the Tigers to five NCAA Championship appearances, including a program-best seventh place finish at the 2021-22.
 
He has coached 14 All-Americans, including Colby Goroux and Josh Harkless last season. Kaidon Winters was the champion at 157 lb. in 2022 and he, Zach Stedeford and Austin Lamb earned All-American honors. Forty-one wrestlers have been named National Wrestling Coaches Association Academic All-Americans in his eight seasons at RIT.
 
Bovenzi served as the head varsity wrestling coach at East Rochester (1996-2002) and Pittsford (2002-2013) high schools in the Greater Rochester Area. He developed both fledgling programs into New York State ranked teams while coaching 36 class champions, 19 State Qualifiers, and a New York State champion. He coached the Panthers to a 159-58 record with 10 straight winning seasons and six state ranked teams.
 
Bovenzi is a member of National Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame, St. Lawrence Hall of Fame and the Section V Wrestling Hall of Fame.
