Ten Tigers land Liberty League weekly honors

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Ten RIT student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League with weekly honors announced by the league, Monday.
 
Junior Kathryn Arbegast was the Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week. Sophomore Jessica Walsh was named the Women's Swimmer of the Week, and junior McKenna Porter was the Diver of the Week.
 
On the men's side, senior Derick Koen was named the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week. Junior Kamden Keyes was the Swimmer of the Week, junior Luke Albanese was selected as the Diver of the Week, and first year Griffin Tomsheck was named the Rookie of the Week. First year Evan Ly was named the Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week, and sophomores Yu Tanimoto and Alexander Sinclair were named the Doubles Team of the Week.
 
Arbegast led RIT with a second-place finish at Houghton's Highlander Invitational on Saturday. Finishing with a time of 21:37, Arbegast helped the Tigers take second with 93 points. 
 
Walsh took first place in the 200 Breast (2:33.34) and 200 IM (2:19.50) while also finishing second in the 100 Breast (1:12.54) in RIT's season-opening meet against RPI on Saturday. 
 
Porter placed first in both diving events for RIT in their season opener against RPI on Saturday. Porter scored 250.20 points in the 1-meter and 242.15 points in the 3-meter.
 
Koen helped RIT win Houghton's Highlander Invitational on Saturday with a first-place finish. Koen finished with a time of 24:42 as the Tigers finished with 43 points. The senior has won the Highlander Invitational three consecutive times, while RIT has won the race the past four years.
 
Keyes won the 100 Free (47.57), 200 Fly (1:56.34), and the 50 Free leg of the 200 Medley Relay to help RIT defeat RPI 192-104 in their season-opening dual meet on Saturday. Keyes also placed second in the 200 IM (2:01.72). 
 
Albanese won the 1-meter (311.55) and 3-meter (307.90) diving competitions to help RIT defeat RPI in their season-opening meet against RPI, 192-104, on Saturday. 
 
Tomsheck won the 100 Breast (59.59) and the 200 Breast (2:11.21) while also swimming the lead leg in the 200 Free Relay to help the Tigers top RPI 192-104 in their season-opening meet on Saturday. 
 
Tanimoto and Sinclair beat Tyler Hernandez and Finn Whitaker 6-1 at first doubles in the Tigers 7-0 win over St. John Fisher, Sunday.
 
Ly defeated Noah Britton at second singles to help the Tigers to a 7-0 win over Nazareth, Sunday. The first year teamed up with junior Alec Turcotte to beat Nazareth's Pierre Ntonga and Max Funiciello 6-1 at first doubles.
