Kish and Tigers Coaching Staff earn Liberty League end of year awards

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - RIT junior diver Gellert Kish was named Liberty League Diver of the Year, while head coach Phil Baretela, diving coach Cliff Devries and assistant coach Phoebe Huey were named Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year, announced Friday.

Kish earned All-American honors in both the 1-meter dive and 3-meter dive at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships last month, placing sixth in the 3-meter dive and seventh in the 1-meter dive. At the Liberty League Championships this year, the junior diver was a repeat champion from the 3-meter board and earned second in the 1-meter diving event, earning Diver of the Meet for the third-straight year. Kish was named Liberty League Diver of the year last season and was named Diver of the Week three times during this season.

Baretela, Devries and Huey earn Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the fourth straight year. They led the Tigers to a 6-0 record in dual meets and the team's third straight league title, while first-year Luke Albanese, Kish and senior Drew Scheib qualified for the NCAA Championships. The Tigers were ranked as high as No. 18 in the CSCAA Division III poll for the second time in program history.
