Men's Lacrosse falls to Dickinson, 12-10, in NCAA Semifinal
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior midfielder Chase Bruno scored three goals and added an assist in the Tigers 12-10 loss to Dickinson in the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Semifinal, Sunday.
Senior attackman Clifford Gaston had two goals and an assist and graduate student Ian Dinga and junior attackman Ethan Harkins each scored two goals. Fifth-year midfielder Michael Finneran and senior attackman Nate Senez each had two assists and graduate student midfielder Seth Grottenthaler finished with a goal and an assist.
Sophomore long-stick midfielder Logan Fletcher caused three turnovers and senior long-stick midfielder Axel Sanderson caused two turnovers. Fifth-year defenseman Drew Leahy had four ground balls and graduate student faceoff specialist Allyn French and fifth-year faceoff specialist Nick Farrell combined to win 11 faceoffs. Junior goalie Alex Zborowski made nine saves in net.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Dickinson's Charlie Baughan scored with 9:52 remaining in the first quarter to give the Red Devils the lead.
- Bruno scored five seconds later to tie the game at 1-1.
- Dickinson scored three straight goals, taking a 4-1 lead on Ethan Gess' goal with one second remaining in the opening frame.
- Landen Hyatt scored a man-up goal early in the second quarter to extend Dickinson's lead to 5-1.
- Grottenthaler scored with 8:08 to play in the second off an assist from Bruno and Harkins scored off a feed from Gaston with 5:21 remaining to cut the Red Devils' lead to 5-3.
- Gaston scored off an assist from Senez early in the third quarter to make it a one-goal game.
- Gaston and Senez hooked up again with 12:23 to play in the third to tie the game at 5-5.
- Luke Whalen tallied an unassisted goal to give Dickinson a 6-5 lead.
- Harkins scored off a feed from Finneran to tie the game at 6-6.
- Dickinson ran off three straight goals, taking a 9-6 lead on Hyatt's goal with 5:49 to play in the third.
- Bruno made it 9-7 with his goal off an assist from Grottenthaler with 4:24 to play in the third.
- Hyatt scored a man-up goal followed by a Bruno goal with 36 seconds to play in the third to cut the Red Devils' lead to 10-8.
- Ethan Ferrant scored with 26 seconds to play in the quarter to give Dickinson an 11-8 lead.
- Dinga scored two straight goals, cutting the Red Devils' lead to 11-10 on his goal with 7:27 to play in fourth quarter.
- Baughan scored with 40 seconds remaining to make it a 12-10 final.
