Ten from RIT Men's Lacrosse land USILA All-American honors
ROCHESTER, NY -- Ten members from the RIT Men's Lacrosse team were named 2024 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-Americans announced Thursday, May 23. Senior Michael Grace was named the William C. Stiles Memorial Outstanding Defenseman winner.
Grace was a first team selection, along with junior attack Clifford Gaston. Graduate student attack Jake Erickson was a second team selection. Graduate student Luke Pilcher, senior midfielder Seth Grottenthaler, graduate student midfielder John Mozrall, senior midfielder Caiden Perry, senior defenseman Tanner Winklemann, sophomore Alex Zborowski and graduate student face-off specialist Allyn French were each All-American selections.
A two-time First Team All-American, Grace leads RIT with 21 caused turnovers, averaging 1.00 per contest and is second on the team with a career-best 88 ground balls. The 2024 Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year recorded 10 points on six goals and four assists goal, including a career-high three goals against Vassar. Grace is the first Tiger to receive the William C. Stiles award and has five ground balls and four caused turnovers in two NCAA Tournament games.
Gaston leads the team and is tied for sixth in Division III with a career-high 109 points on a career-high 73 goals and 36 assists. A 2024 First Team All-Liberty League selection, Gaston is tied for sixth in Division III in points and ninth in goals. He has 17 points in four NCAA Tournament games, including a career-high nine points on seven goals and two assists in last Sunday's NCAA Semifinal.
Erickson is second on the team with a career-best 103 points on 48 goals and a team-high 55 assists. A Seconds Team All-Liberty League selection, Erickson is tied for tenth in Division III in points and tied for tenth in assists and man-up points and is 26th averaging 2.39 assists per game. He has 19 points on 12 goals and seven assists in four NCAA Tournament games, including eight points on four goals and four assists against Christopher Newport in last Saturday's NCAA Quarterfinal.
Pilcher is third on the team in scoring with 93 points on 63 goals and a career-high 30 assists. A 2023 USILA First Team All-American, Pilcher has 17 points on 13 goals and four assists in four NCAA Tournament games, including seven points on four goals and three assists against Christopher Newport in last Saturday's NCAA Quarterfinal.
Grottenthaler recorded 35 points on 18 goals and 17 assists. A 2024 Second Team All-Liberty League selection, Grottenthaler tallied 16 points on eight goals and eight assists in conference play, including two goals and an assist against Ithaca and Clarkson.
Mozrall is sixth on the team with 41 points on 18 goals and 23 assists. A 2023 First Team USILA All-American, Mozrall has 13 points on six goals and seven assists in four NCAA Tournament games, including four goals and two assists against Christopher Newport in last Saturday's NCAA Quarterfinal..
Perry has a career-high 31 ground balls and a career-best 12 caused turnovers in 23 games this season. A 2024 Second Team All-Liberty League selection, Perry had a season-best four ground balls against Tufts and Cortland and had a season-high two caused turnovers at Nazareth. He has six ground balls, one caused turnover and one goal in four NCAA Tournament games, including two ground balls and a goal against Christopher Newport in last Saturday's NCAA Quarterfinal.
A 2024 Second Team All-Liberty League selection Winklemann is second on the team with a career-high 16 caused turnovers to go along with 31 ground balls. He has six ground balls and three caused turnovers in four NCAA Tournament games, including two ground balls and a caused turnover against Bowdoin in last Sunday's NCAA Semifinal.
French is 249-of-441 (56.5%) of his face-offs and leads the team with 137 ground balls league grabbing 5.95 ground balls per game. A 2024 All-Liberty League Honorable Mention selection, French won a season-high 23 face offs and a season-best 14 ground balls against Babson in the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament.
Zborowski is 19-2 and with a 9.93 goals against average and a .572 save percentage. A 2024 All-Liberty League Honorable Mention selection, Zborowski made a season-high 19 saves against Washington & Lee. Zborowski made 13 saves against Bowdoin in last Sunday's NCAA Semifinal.
RIT is 21-2 on the season, advancing to the NCAA Championship game for the fifth time in program history and the third time in four seasons.
