Men's Hockey to face Boston University in NCAA Tournament

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT will face Boston University in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament this Thursday (Mar. 28) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Faceoff is set for 5:00 p.m. EDT.

The Tigers were seeded 15th after winning an automatic bid to their fourth D1-era NCAA Tournament with a 5-2 victory over American International in last night's Atlantic Hockey Championship game.

RIT (27-10-2) has never played Boston University (26-9-2), which was seeded second for this year's tournament after finishing runner-up in the Hockey East Tournament yesterday with a 6-2 loss to Boston College. Thursday's winner will advance to face either Minnesota or Nebraska-Omaha in Saturday's regional semifinal with a berth in the Frozen Four on the line.

RIT last played in the NCAA Tournament in 2016, falling, 4-0, to Quinnipiac in a game played at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y.

The previous season, the Tigers upset top-seeded Minnesota State, 2-1, in the opening round before falling, 4-0, to Nebraska-Omaha in a second-round game in a regional played at Notre Dame's Compton Family Ice Center.

RIT made a historic run to the 2010 Frozen Four in its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, upsetting top-seeded Denver, 2-1, and defeating New Hampshire, 6-2, at the Times Union Center in Albany, before falling, 8-1, to Wisconsin in the national semifinals.
