Men's Soccer loses 1-0 at Brockport in season opener

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The RIT men's soccer team lost 1-0 at Brockport in the season opener, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • RIT fired eight shots on goal in the first half, including four on target.
  • Graduate student midfielder Chris Lee intercepted a ball in the fourth minute and sent a shot in on target from 20 yards out.
  • Sophomore forward Idriss Diallo had a header from the top of the Brockport penalty box on the tenth minute off a cross from senior midfielder Tate Pottle.
  • Junior midfielder Adam Eastman had his shot on goal saved by Brockport keeper Matthew Sandison in the 32nd minute.
  • Brockport's Peter Tinaj scored in the 51st minute to give the Golden Eagles the lead.
  • RIT had six shots in the final 38 minutes, including a shot on goal from senior midfielder Gabriel Zaninetti in the 58th minute.

 
GAME NOTES:

  • RIT outshot Brockport 15-4.
  • The Tigers had four corner kicks
  • Sophomore goalie Owen Hallagan made his first collegiate start.

 
WHAT'S NEXT:
RIT returns to action on Wednesday (Sept. 3) against Houghton at 7:00 p.m. It is International Student-Athlete Welcome night at Tiger Stadium.
