Women's Hockey plays Syracuse in home-and-home weekend series
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's hockey team plays Syracuse in a pair of Atlantic Hockey America games on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 24-25). Friday's game at the Gene Polisseni Center begins at 3:00 p.m. and Saturday's game will be played at the Tennity Ice Pavillion in Syracuse at 3:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT:
RIT split a pair of non-conference games against No. 14 St. Lawrence last weekend, losing 3-0 on Thursday and winning a 4-1 win the following day. RIT outshot St. Lawrence 35-30 in Thursday's loss and sophomore goalie Brenna McNamara made a career-high 27 saves.
Friday, sophomore forward Brac Kelley scored a career-high two goals and sophomore forward Kailey Favro recorded a career-best three assists. Senior forward Jaidan Fahrny and junior forward Linda Rulle each scored a goal. Senior goalie Sophia Bellina made 38 saves, the fifth-most in her career, in net.
ABOUT RIT:
RIT enters the weekend third in the Atlantic Hockey America standings with four points. The Tigers are averaging 2.9 goals per game, while allowing 1.8 goals per contest. The Tigers are 11-of-34 (32.4%) on the power play and 24-of-26 (92.3%) on the penalty kill. RIT has won 206-of-409 (50.3%) of its faceoffs and blocked 112 shots.
Kelley and junior forward Addie Alvarez are tied for first on the team with seven points on three goals and four assists apiece. Favro is third in scoring with six points including a team-best five assists. Fahrny (1g, 4a) and junior defender Emma Pickering (1g, 4a) are tied for fourth on the team with five points each.
Pickering leads the team with 19 blocked shots and first year defender Riley Gramlich is second with 13 blocks. Sophomore defender Madison Buziak is third on the team with 12 blocked shots, and first year forward Tilli Keranen and first year defender Laura Dyke are tied for fourth with 11 blocks apiece.
Bellina is 3-3 with a 1.50 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage. McNamara is 1-1 with a 1.52 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage.
ATLANTIC HOCKEY RANKINGS:
RIT is second in the league averaging 2.88 goals per game and second allowing 1.75 goals per contest. The Tigers are second in Atlantic Hockey averaging 4.38 assists per game and second averaging 7.25 points per game. RIT leads the AHA converting 11-of-34 (32.4%) of its power play chances and leads the league killing off 92.3 percent (22-of-24) of its opponent's power plays. RIT is fourth in the AHA, winning 50.4 percent of its face offs and fourth blocking 14.00 shots per game.
Kelley and Alvarez are tied for seventh in the league in points (7) and tied for sixth in the AHA averaging 0.88 points per game. Alvarez is tied for fifth in the league in goals (3) and Favro is tied for fourth in the league with five assists and tied for seventh averaging 0.71 assists per game.
Kelley and Gramlich are tied for first in the league with two power play goals. Pickering is ninth in the AHA with 19 blocked shots.
Bellina is second in the conference with a 1.50 goals-against average and leads the AHA with a .949 save percentage. She is eighth in the league averaging 28.17 saves per game.
NCAA RANKINGS:
RIT is eighth in Division I with 35 assists. The Tigers are ninth in Division I with 23 goals and 11th in penalty-killing percentage (92.3%). RIT leads Division I with 11 power play goals and power play percentage (32.4%). RIT is tied for 11th in the country in scoring defense allowing 1.75 goals per game and 14th averaging 2.88 goals per game. Bellina is 16th in Division I with a 1.50 goals-against average and 15th with a .949 save percentage.
MILESTONES:
Alvarez is tied 46th in career scoring (59 points). She needs one point to tie Nicole Gedney for 45th in all-time scoring (60 points). Pickering enters the weekend 75th with 39 career points. She needs one point to tie Danielle LeBlanc and Taylor Thurston for 73rd in career scoring (40 points). Pickering needs one blocked shot to reach 150 for her career.
Kelley moved inside the top 100 in all-time scoring. Entering the weekend, Kelley is tied for 93rd in career scoring (33 points). She needs one point to tie Dorothea Derke, Mackenzie Stone, Jill Tomalty, Missy Priebe, Ellie Larson and Julie Romans for 87th (34 points).
Bellina is eighth all-time with 44 games played. She is tenth all-time with 2,269 minutes played, ninth all-time with 1,083 career saves and 11th with a 2.12 career goals-against average.
ABOUT SYRACUSE:
Syracuse swept a pair of AHA road games at Delaware last weekend, winning 2-1 and 1-0. First year forward Jordan Blouin and sophomore defender Celia Wiegand each scored in Friday's win while junior forward Nea Tervonen had two assists. First year goalie Ava Drabyk made 25 saves in goal, Friday. Sophomore forward Rylee McLeod scored in Saturday's 1-0 win and Drabyk finished with 22 saves.
Syracuse enters the weekend fifth in the AHA averaging 1.88 goals per game and third in the league allowing 2.63 goals per contest. The Orange are sixth in the league converting 2-of-32 power play chances and fifth killing off 25-of-31 (80.6%) their penalties. Syracuse is third in the AHA winning 247-of-459 face offs (53.8%) and is sixth averaging 12.25 blocked shots per game.
First year forward Emma Gnade leads Syracuse with six points on three goals and three assists. Blouin is second on the team with five points (2g, 3a) and Sophomore forward Peyton Armstrong (2g, 2a) and junior forward Jackson Kinsler (1g, 3a) are tied for third with four points apiece.
Senior defender Sami Gendron leads Syracuse and is tenth in the AHA with 15 blocked shots. Sophomore defender Jessica Cheung is second on the team with 12 blocked shots and Wiegand is third with 10.
Drabyk is 2-4-0 on the season and is fourth in the AHA with a 2.50 goals-against average. She is fifth in the league with a .925 save percentage and fourth averaging 31.0 saves per game.
RIT VS. SYRACUSE:
Syracuse is 36-15-4 overall against RIT. The Orange went 3-1-0 against the Tigers last season. RIT's lone win was a 2-1 victory on Jan. 24 at the Gene Polisseni Center. Kelley tied the game at 1-1 and Mia Tsilemos scored the game-winning goal 4:02 into the second period. Sarah Coe made 26 saves in net to earn the win for RIT.
