Baseball splits doubleheader at Clarkson, 7-9, 13-11
POTSDAM, N.Y. – The RIT baseball team earned a split in a doubleheader against Clarkson, Friday.
GAME ONE – Clarkson 9, RIT 7
- Junior designated hitter Roberto Reade capped a three-run first inning by driving in a pair of runs with a single to left field.
- RIT added two more runs in the third inning to make it 5-0. The second run of the inning came when Reade brought junior Charlie Slaymaker home with another single to left field.
- After giving up two runs by Clarkson in the fourth inning, RIT scored twice in the sixth with runs coming from graduate student John Bagley and sophomore Isaac Braegelmann to put the Tigers in front, 7-2.
- The Golden Knights rallied to take the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning when Joe Figliolino allowed two runners to come home with a single.
- Clarkson made it 9-7 later in the eighth with a sacrifice fly ball to right field, bringing in Cam Jerrett.
GAME TWO – RIT 13, Clarkson 11 (10 inn.)
- RIT jumped out to 3-0 lead in the first inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Caelan Kim, which brought in two runs.
- The Tigers added four runs in the fourth inning that saw junior outfielder Jarin Moses hit a two-run blast over the fence to put RIT up, 7-1.
- Clarkson rallied with six runs in the sixth to tie the game at 7–7 as the Golden Knights took advantage of two RIT errors and a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded.
- In the top of the seventh, RIT regained the lead 9–7 after Moses was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing in a run. Later in the inning, Slaymaker drew a bases-loaded walk to force Braegelmann home.
- In the 10th inning, junior outfielder Jackson Rusiecki broke the stalemate by earning a walk with the bases loaded to give the Tigers an 11-10 lead
- Kim drove in two more runs with a single down the left line as Dodig and Mikey Zacher crossed home plate.

RIT hosts Oswego in its final non-conference game this season on Tuesday (Apr. 22) at 4 p.m.
