Women's Soccer beats Wheaton, 1-0
Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's soccer team defeated Wheaton College 1-0 earning their first win of the season, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a slow start, the first shot of the game was taken by senior midfielder Jessie Gomez in the 19th minute, but it was saved by Wheaton goalkeeper Myah Schoolman.
- The Tigers had a strong defense that held Wheaton to only two shots in the first half
- Gomez had another great opportunity in the 47th minute, but the shot was about a foot outside the left post
- In the 58th minute, sophomore Elena Onodera was able to find the back of the net for the game-winning goal which was assisted by juniors Rachel Marriott and Olivia Harris
GAME NOTES
- Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Sanchez started for the Tigers once again after missing the last game due to an injury
- RIT had 11 shots compared to Wheaton's four and none of Wheaton's shots were on goal
- Both RIT and Wheaton had three corner kick opportunities
