Men's Basketball loses 83-76 to Union
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior guard Matt Caggiano scored 20 points in the Tigers 83-76 loss to Union, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Union's Jack Plesser scored early in the first half to give Union a 12-6 lead.
- Junior guard Brock Bowen hit a three-pointer with 12:52 remaining to give the Tigers a 13-12 lead, while junior guard Chase Dickens scored with 8:38 to play to extend the RIT lead to 23-17
- Senior guard Mark Osime gave RIT a 28-21 lead on his three-pointer with 6:01 remaining.
- Brendan Reid scored with 52 seconds to play to tie the score at 35-35, and Matthew Garside scored at the end of the first half to give Union a 40-37 lead at the break.
- Junior forward Josiah Turner scored early in the second half to cut the deficit to 40-39.
- Tanner Tedesco gave Union a 45-39 lead on his jumper with 17:20 remaining and Connor Cepiel hit a three-pointer to extend the Garnett Chargers lead to 65-50.
- Turner capped off a 6-0 spurt by the Tigers with a three-pointer to cut the Union lead to 65-56 with 8:37 to play.
- Senior guard Keegan Ocorr made it a five-point game with his layup with 1:54 remaining.
- Caggiano scored with 16 seconds to play to cut Union's lead to 76-80, but Christian Dufort made two free throws in the closing seconds to make it an 83-76 final.
GAME NOTES
- RIT shot 28-of-62 (45.2%) from the floor, including seven three pointers.
- Union held a 40-27 rebounding edge
- Bowen scored 18 points, while Turner finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
