Baseball falls to St Lawrence, 14-6

CANTON, N.Y. – RIT junior right fielder Adam Marsh goes 2-for-4 with a team high 2 RBI as the Tigers lost to St. Lawrence, 14-6, Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Saints took a 4-0 lead in the first inning after a 3 RBI double and an RBI double
  • RIT cut the lead to three after Marsh hit an RBI single that scored sophomore first baseman Trent Rapp in the fourth inning
  • St. Lawrence scored three more runs in the fourth on a 2 RBI single and an error on the Tigers' defense, taking a 7-1 lead
  • In the fifth, senior designated hitter Kyle Poorman reached first on a Saints' fielding error and graduate student catcher Gil Merod scored from third base, cutting St. Lawrence's lead to five runs
  • The Saints took a 9-2 lead in the sixth on a fielding error and a walk with the bases loaded
  • RIT scored four runs in the seventh on a RBI from sophomore second baseman Jarin Moses, a defensive error that scored Moses and junior shortstop Randy Dodig, followed by a fielder's choice that scored Rapp, making it 9-6
  • In the bottom of the seventh, St. Lawrence scored their final five runs on a two RBI singles that scored a total of four batters and an RBI double down the left field line

GAME NOTES

  • Junior Sam Kulp went 2-for-3 and scored one run
  • Sophomore relief pitcher Jack Luensmann did not allow any hits or runs and struck out two batters in his one-inning outing
