ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Six RIT student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League with weekly honors announced by the league, Monday.
Junior Gwen Petrie was named the Women's Diver of the Week and first year Anna Wasula was named the Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week.
On the men's side, Senior Selorm Dake was named the Men's Soccer Offensive Performer of the Week, and sophomore Kristian Dobbek was selected the Defender of the Week. Junior Luke Albanese was named the Men's Diver of the Week and first year Griffin Messenlehner was named the Men's Swimming and Diving Rookie of the Week.
Petrie swept both diving events, scoring 253.35 points in the 1-meter event and 240.00 points in the 3-meter to help RIT defeat Alfred, 197-99 Friday.
Wasula averaged 4.88 kills/set and 2.50 digs/set while attacking at a .352 clip in RIT's two matches last week. She started with four-set career-highs of 21 kills and 13 digs in Friday's Liberty League setback to visiting Clarkson before logging 18 kills on .436 attacking and seven digs in a four-set loss to Rochester on Saturday.
Albanese swept the diving events in the Tigers 152.5-142.5 win at Alfred, Friday. He scored 288.95 points to win the 1-meter and 312.35 points to take the top spot in the 3-meter competition.
Messenlehner anchored the winning 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:27.28) and placed first in the 100 freestyle (48.47). The first year swimmer helped the 200 medley relay team to a second-place finish (1:36.55) and placed second in the 100 backstroke (53.30).
Dake scored a career-high two goals to lead RIT to a 3-0 win at St. Lawrence, Saturday. The senior forward scored in the 27th minute to give RIT a 1-0 lead and again in 78th minute to increase the Tigers lead to 2-0. It was RIT's first win over the Saints since 2019.
Dobbek made a career-high nine saves to lead RIT to a 3-0 win at St. Lawrence, Saturday. The sophomore goalie made three saves in the first half and six in the second half to earn his fifth shutout of the season.
