Hansen-Bukata lands second AHA Defensive Player of the Week honor in three weeks

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior Aiden Hansen-Bukata was named the Atlantic Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, Monday, February 19, 2024, marking the second time in three weeks he has won the award.

  • Hansen-Bukata logged a pair of assists in last Friday's 7-3 victory over visiting Air Force, including a short-handed, first-period helper that pushed the Tigers to a 3-0 lead.
  • He also assisted both RIT goals in Saturday's 3-2 setback to the Falcons to extend his five-game point-scoring streak.
  • Hansen-Bukata also totaled five blocked shots during the series, including three on Saturday.
  • He has 15 points (3G/12A) in the Tigers' last 10 games since returning from a two-game injury absence, held without a point only once during the stretch.
  • In 29 total appearances this winter, he has at least one point in all but eight games.
  • He enters the week second in Atlantic Hockey with 0.76 assists per game and tied for fourth with 22 assists. Hansen-Bukata is also 10th with 0.90 points per game.

No. 20 RIT closes the regular season with two games opposite Canisius this Friday (Feb. 23) at home and Saturday (Feb. 24) on the road. Both games are slated for 7:05 p.m. starts. Already assured of finishing no lower than second place in the final Atlantic Hockey standings, RIT only needs one more point to clinch their second-straight Bob DeGregorio Trophy as AHA regular-season champion.
