Men's Hockey announces 2025-26 schedule

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT Men's Hockey team announced the 2025-26 schedule, Wednesday.

The Tigers currently have 34 total contests scheduled for the coming season, including 14 dates at the Gene Polisseni Center as well as the annual Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend contest at Blue Cross Arena in downtown Rochester opposite Clarkson. RIT will also travel internationally for the first time in program history to play two games during the Friendship Four in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

"I'm excited for the upcoming season and am looking forward to getting back on the ice," said first-year Head Coach Matt Thomas, who succeeded Wayne Wilson following his retirement last month after a 26-season run behind the Tiger bench. "We all have a lot to look forward to on this year's schedule, including a great non-conference lineup that will literally take us places we've never been before, while our AHA schedule will challenge us as well as we look to make another run at a championship."

RIT is currently slated to start the 63rd year in program history on Oct. 10-11 with an Atlantic Hockey American (AHA) doubleheader opposite visiting Sacred Heart, before taking on Clarkson in the 18th-annual Brick City game (Oct. 18). The Tigers will then entertain Air Force (Oct. 24-25) for an AHA set before hitting the road for two non-league games at Colgate (Oct. 31-Nov. 1).

RIT will start string of six-straight conference games hosting Mercyhurst (Nov. 7-8) before traveling to Robert Morris (Nov. 14-15) for two games and Niagara (Nov. 18) and Bentley (Nov. 21) for single contests.

The Tigers will join Sacred Heart, Miami (Ohio) and Union in Northern Ireland (Nov. 28-29) for two games apiece Thanksgiving weekend, with pairings still to be determined.

RIT returns to the GPC to kick off a home-and-home series with AHA-rival Canisius (Dec. 5-6) before taking a three-week holiday break. The Tigers will then head to Clarkson (Dec. 29) before starting the New Year with a home-and-home series opposite Penn State (Jan. 2-3), including a Saturday date at the GPC.

RIT will host Robert Morris (Jan. 9-10) for an AHA doubleheader, before another home-and-home series versus Canisius (Jan. 16-17) that starts in Buffalo. The Tigers will face Niagara the following weekend (Jan. 23-24), hosting the Purple Eagles on Friday before hitting the road on Saturday.

RIT heads to Mercyhurst (Jan. 30-31) and Army (Feb. 6-7) for back-to-back AHA road doubleheaders, before hosting Niagara (Feb. 10) the following Tuesday and Bentley (Feb. 20) to close the home portion of the regular season schedule. The Tigers will then finish the regular season with two conference games at Holy Cross (Feb. 27-28) to gear up for the postseason.

The AHA postseason will start with first-round games (March 3), followed by best-of-three quarterfinal (Mar. 6-8) and semifinal (Mar. 13-15) series and the AHA Championship game (Mar. 21). All games will be played at the rink of the higher-seed. All 10 teams make the postseason tournament with the top-six seeds earning a first-round bye.
