Women's Soccer places five on 2024 All-Liberty League Team
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Five members of the RIT women's soccer team were named to the 2024 Liberty League Women's Soccer All-Conference Team, announced Tuesday.
Junor forward Elena Onodera, senior midfielder Jessie Gomez, and senior defender Abby Umbenhaur were first-team selections, while senior forward Olivia Harris made the second team, and defender Amber Flynn is a third-team selection.
Onodera led RIT with 21 points (7 goals, 7 assists) this season while ranking fourth in points in the Liberty League. The seven goals and seven assists are the most in a season for the senior, besting her 2023 output of 15 points (6 goals, 3 assists).
Gomez earned 12 points (3 goals, 6 assists) for the Tigers in 2024. The midfielder started in all 17 appearances this season, logging 1,188 minutes. The six assists are a career best.
Umbenhaur and Flynn were the anchors for the RIT backline this season as both players started all 18 games and led the team in minutes played. Flynn led the team with 1,537 minutes while Umbenhaur ranked second with 1,430 minutes played.
Harris was named the Liberty League Offensive Player of the Week, Sep. 3, after leading the Tigers to a pair of wins to start the year. In the two games, Harris recorded two goals and two assists in wins over Stevens and Mt. Saint Mary's (NY). In all, the senior finished second on the team with a career-best 19 points (7 goals, 5 assists).
RIT finished 2024 with an 8-6-4 overall record and 4-3-2 in conference play. The Tigers earned a spot in the Liberty League Tournament for the seventh consecutive season.
