FREDONIA, N.Y. – RIT junior Derick Koen finished 14th out of 170 runners, helping the Tigers place fifth overall at the NCAA Division III Niagara Regional Championship, Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Koen ran the course with a time of 25:33.6, seven seconds faster than the junior's 25:40.6 time at the Kara Hall Memorial Invitational on Oct. 5. Both races were run on the same course in Lake Erie State Park.
- Junior Evan Owens was 26th with a time of 26:10.9, beating out teammate Jeffrey Gibbs. The senior finished 28th for RIT, crossing the finish line with a 26:15.6 clocking.
- First years Brandon Blandino took 38th (26:41.9) as Nate Flaherty placed 78th (27:36.0).
- RIT had 179 points as NYU took first place with 29 points, beating out Geneseo by one point. Brockport placed third (86) as Hamilton was fourth (159).
