Women's Hockey beats Robert Morris, 5-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT first year forward Kailey Favro scored two goals in the Tigers 5-1 win over Robert Morris in Atlantic Hockey America action, Saturday.
 
Graduate student defensewoman Mia Tsilemos had two assists and senior forward Athena Vasdani, first year forward Brac Kelley and sophomore forward Linda Rulle each scored a goal.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Senior goalie Sarah Coe made 12 saves in a scoreless first period and RIT had nine shots on goal in the opening frame.
  • Favro scored her first collegiate goal at 11:01 of the second period to give the Tigers the lead. Alvarez fed Favro in the slot from behind the RMU net and she fired a one-timer past Robert Morris goalie, Lucy Phillips.
  • Favro netted her second goal of the game 3:53 into the third period, scoring from the slot off an assist from senior forward Kylie Aquaro to give RIT a 2-0 lead.
  • Emma Goding scored at 9:04 of the third period to cut the deficit to 2-1.
  • Rulle intercepted a pass at center ice and broke in on Phillips beating her with a wrist shot to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead at 11:43 of the period.
  • Kelley scored her third goal of the season at 12:35 of the third to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead and senior forward Athena Vasdani scored an empty-net goal at 17:49 to make it a 5-1 final.

 
GAME NOTES

  • RIT outshot Robert Morris 43-27
  • The Tigers went 0-for-4 on the power play, while RMU was 0-for-1
  • Coe made 26 saves in net to improve to 5-1-1 on the season.
