RIT Athletics Preview: Sep. 9-15

WOMEN'S SOCCER
RIT rallied to earn a 3-3 draw against Geneseo at home on Saturday, remaining undefeated through their first three games of the season. After trailing 3-0 at halftime, the Tigers clawed their way back with goals from Rachel Marriott (69th minute) and Anya Sander (75th minute). Senior Jessie Gomez scored the equalizer in the 89th minute. The goal was her second of the year.

Junior Elena Onodera was credited with two assists for RIT. The forward leads the team with a total of 8 points (2 goals, 4 assists).
First-year goalkeeper Avery Donnelly made one save in the second half to earn the tie.

The Tigers visit St. John Fisher on Tuesday and Plattsburgh on Saturday.

MEN'S SOCCER
The Tigers fell to Geneva, 1-0, on Saturday. Senior John Lucas placed two of his game-high three shots on goal for RIT as they look to bounce back on Tuesday when they host Rochester.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
The Tigers hosted the RIT Invitational over the weekend. On Friday, RIT dropped a close match to Buffalo State in five sets (25-19, 25-13, 22-25, 22-25, 18-16). The following day, the Tigers fell to Springfield, 1-3 (25-16, 20-25, 25-13, 25-15) before closing out the tournament with a win over Hamilton, 3-2 (21-25, 11-25, 25-20, 25-21, 15-9).

Senior outside hitter Samantha Cox totaled 40 kills for RIT over the three matches.

Middle blocker Catherine Vento recorded 11 blocks (2 solo, 9 assists) in addition to nine kills and a pair of service aces.

RIT travels to compete in the Allegheny Invitational this Friday and Saturday (Sep. 13-14) with matches against Westminter (PA), Washington & Jefferson, and Fredonia.

MEN'S TENNIS
RIT competed at the St. Lawrence Fall Classic over the weekend with junior Gabriel Escobar winning the "C" Singles title as sophomore Alec Turcotte and first-year Yu Tanimoto took the "A" Doubles title for the Tigers.

The Tigers are back in action when they visit Nazareth on Saturday.
