ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Five members of the RIT women's swimming and diving team were named College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-Americans.
Sophomore divers Gwen Petrie, McKenna Porter and Maddi Williams were First Team selections and senior swimmer Anna Peshenko and sophomore swimmer Rose LaDue were second team picks.
To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second-Team selections must have also earned a 3.5 GPA or higher and met a "B" time standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet.
LaDue placed fifth in the 100 Freestyle at the Liberty League Championships and swam the opening leg in the winning 200 medley relay that set a program record earning an NCAA "B" cut qualifying time. LaDue won the 100 Backstroke at the Liberty League Championships in an NCAA "B" cut time of 56.41.
Peshenko placed second in the 200 Breaststroke at the Liberty League Championships and was part of the winning 200 medley relay that set a program-record and earned an NCAA "B" cut qualifying time. Peshenko finished second in the 200 Breaststroke with an NCAA "B" cut qualifying time.
Petrie competed at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. She placed 24th in the 3M preliminaries and 26th in the 1M preliminaries. Petrie placed fourth in the 3M at the NCAA Diving Regionals and eighth in the 1M competition.
Porter competed at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. She finished 20th in the 3M preliminaries and 22nd in the 1M preliminaries. Porter placed fifth in the 1M at the NCAA Diving Regionals and was 10th in the 3M.
Williams finished eighth in the 3M diving competition at the NCAA Championships to earn First Team All-American honors. She placed fifth in the 3M at the NCAA Regional Diving Championships and fourth at the Liberty League Championships.
