Women’s Soccer draws Grove City, 2-2

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Sophomore forward Amerie Mills scored the equalizing goal in the 76th minute of the game to give the RIT women's soccer team a 2-2 draw against Grove City in Friday's season opener at Tiger Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Grove City struck early in the 3rd minute when Emma Daily headed in a corner from Lauren Muhanna.
  • RIT responded in the 29th minute as junior midfielder Anya Sander found space 20 yards out and curled a shot into the upper left corner. Sophomore Emma Watson assisted on the play.
  • The Wolverines regained the lead in the 41st minute with a goal from Kiara White, sending Grove City into halftime up 2–1.
  • With 12 minutes remaining, Mills leveled the score by chesting in a corner kick from senior Sian Cha near the right post.

 
GAME NOTES

  • Mills' goal marks her first collegiate goal after three appearances last season.
  • Sander's goal was her third career tally, and Watson's assist was her second career assist.
  • RIT's defense held Grove City to just one shot on goal in the second half.
