Box Score BABSON PARK, M.A. – The RIT women's soccer team lost to Amherst, 3-1 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Amherst scored its first two goals during the 10th and 21st minutes
- The Tigers' first shot opportunity of the game came from senior defender Elle Hallock, taking a shot outside of the box that was saved near post in the 30th minute
- Sophomore midfielder Elena Onodera took a shot inside the box in the 68th minute that was saved by a diving Amherst goalkeeper near the left post
- Amherst scored once more in the 71st minute
- In the 89th minute, senior defender Abby Umbenhaur fired a shot from about 30 yards out that found its way into the back of goal
GAME NOTES
- Amherst out-shot RIT 16-6
- Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Sanchez faced seven shots, saving four
- This is the Tigers' second consecutive loss to Amherst in the round of 32
The Tigers' concluded their season 9-6-5 overall.
