Five Tigers land Liberty League Weekly honors
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Five RIT student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League with weekly honors announced by the league, Monday.
Senior forward Elena Onodera was the Women's Soccer Offensive Performer of the Week. Junior Kira Kronenberg and sophomore Maya McDaniel was the Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week.
On the men's side, senior Gabriel Escobar and junior Luke Weber were the Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week.
Onodera totaled five points on two goals and an assist over two games for RIT last week. Onodera converted a penalty kick to help RIT salvage a 1-1 tie against St. John Fisher, Wednesday. The senior netted the game's first goal and added an assist in the Tiger's 4-0 win over Wooster, Saturday. Onodera has 7 points (3 goals, 1 assist) through six games in 2025.
Kronenberg and McDaniel won the "A" Flight Doubles title at the Mary Hosking Invitational. Kronenberg and McDaniel beat Ariane Karera and Eleanor McDermod 6-3 in their opening match, and defeated Skylar Semon and Claire Langille, 6-1 in the quarterfinal. The duo beat Anushka Jaiswal and Nicole Ridenour, 6-2 in the semifinal before a 6-3 win over Molly Jesperson and A. Aksdal-Jansen in the championship match.
Escobar and Weber won the "B" Flight Doubles title at the St. Lawrence Fall Classic. Escobar and Weber picked up an 8-2 win over Shreyas Kode and Christian Crowder in Saturday's opening match, and took down Akshat Dhull and Dylan Trinh, 8-3. Escobar and Weber defeated Rochester's Ethan Samora and Aiden Swartz, 8-4 in Sunday's semifinals before an 8-4 win over Ean Lantzy and Alex Mazza in the championship match.
