Women's Rowing competes in Dad Vail Regatta
PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – The RIT women's rowing team competed at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta, Friday and Saturday.
The Varsity 8+ boat consisting of coxswain Claire Schwenke, Jessica Hall, Evelyn Andersen, Sarah Polek, Olivia Henry, Mikaela Simpkinson, Lexi Borzelleri, Michelle Carney and Ellen Shepard, finished sixth in the time trials, clocking a time of 8:32.61 and advancing to Saturday's semifinal. The V8+ boat finished first in the semifinal (7:51.52) and qualified for the grand final. The boat took first in the grand final with a top-time of 7:34.35, winning The Backe Trophy.
The Novice 8+ boat of coxswain Ivan Keenan, Emily deVries, Erin Getty, Amanda Brunken, Ryan Schouten, Clara LaChance, Carly Beninati, Anna DeJohn and Lydia Jin, placed seventh in the preliminary round (9:18.95) and advanced to the semifinal. The N8+ boat finished fourth in the semis with a time of 9:13.94, qualifying for Saturday's final. The Tigers finished first in the final with a time of 8:28.04.
The Varsity 2- boat of Jenna Olivieri and Evelyn Andersen placed third in the time trials, clocking 10:16.53 finish, advancing to the semifinal round. In the semifinals, the boat won their heat with a time of 10:03.69 and advanced to Saturday's grand final. Olivieri and Andersen placed fourth in the grand final behind William and Mary, Pittsburgh and Monmouth, with a time of 9:49.533.
Two boats competed in the double sculls races. The boat of Mia Leone and Arden Conybear placed 10th with a time of 11:10.74, while the second boat with Veronica Washco and Michelle Carney directly followed in 11th (11:11.03). Both boats moved onto the semifinals where Wascho and Carney placed fifth (9:42.46), while Leone and Conybear finished in sixth (9:48.12). Both boats also advanced to Saturday's final. Leone and Conybear placed fifth in the final (9:13.10), while Wascho and Carney were scratched and did not compete in race.

The Tigers return to the water May 29th for the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.
