Men’s Rowing competes in South Carolina against Hamilton, Marist
CLEMSON, SC – The RIT Men's Rowing team competed against Hamilton and Marist in Clemson, S.C., on Friday.
There were two races in a 1250 meter format followed by a paddle for 250 meters and a final 500 meter sprint. Times were not taken for the 500 meter sprints. Times or distances are not official race times but best estimates following in a coaching launch and consulting with RIT coxswains.
The Tigers' Varsity Eights boat of Ben Clements, Nic Langdon, Alexander Nenadic, Alex Carey, Thomas Moore, David Huelsmann, Riley McMicheal, Keenan Gildea, and Jack Hill finished third in both 1250 meter races.
The Novice Eights boat (Jacob Smith, Jarid Whitten, Parker Kinsman, Samuel Ferreira, Nolan Smith, Adam Hunt, Nicholas Ricotta, Emmet Christiansen, and Nicholas Staley) and Second Varsity boat (Jacob Marrer, Ben Baker, Adrian Edwards, Brady Grow, Sam Collier, Tyler Emerson, Gavin McIlvaine, Michael Defranco and Adam Dermis) finished second and third in their first 1250 meter race, respectively, before the Novice Eight finished two seats ahead of Marist in their second 1250 meter race. The second varsity boat finished third in that race, three-quarters of a length ahead of Hamilton's novice boat but a length of open water behind Marist.
The Marist boats won every race except for the race won by the Tigers' novice boat.
RIT returns to the waters on Saturday, April 1, with an event against University of Rochester, Nazareth, and St. John Fisher.
