RIT Athletics Preview: Jan. 29-Feb. 3
MEN'S HOCKEY
The Tigers swept Bentley in a two-game series this past weekend, winning 3-0 on Friday, before winning 2-1 in overtime on Saturday.
Senior forward Cody Laskosky, sophomore Philippe Jacques and junior forward Carter Wilkie were the Tigers' goal scorers on Friday. Junior goaltender Tommy Scarfone totaled 19 saves for his program-record 44th-career victory.
Senior defenseman Aiden Hansen-Bukata scored the game-tying goal with 41.6 left in regulation Saturday, while graduate student forward Elijah Gonsalves scored the game-winning goal in overtime, Saturday. Gonsalves also assisted Hansen-Bukata's goal.
The Tigers travel to Niagara on Thursday, before hosting the Purple Eagles on Saturday.

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
The Tigers hosted RIT's first Friday meet of the indoor season this past weekend.
Sophomore Derick Koen won the 5,000 (15:30.20), first-year Jack DeFeo won the 400 (51.94), first-year Jacen Mitchell won the 60 hurdles (8.81), followed by sophomore Cameron Chambers in second (9.17) and sophomore Eric Antonecchia in third (9.22). Sophomore Michael Sardo won the 200 with a time of 23.09, the 800 relay team of first-years Tucker Haluszczak, Nicholas Lusardi, Trent Gobble and Mitchell placed first with a time of 1:35.99, the 1,600 relay team of Sardo, junior Trenton Goyette, sophomore Josh Bedford and DeFeo finished first (3:28.26). Gobble won the triple jump with a distance of 12.49m, while first-year Erich Brown won the high jump with a height of 1.92m, followed by junior Bradley Baybutt in second (1.82m).
RIT competes in Brockport's Multi Invitational Friday and Saturday.

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
The Tigers hosted RIT's first Friday meet of the indoor season this past weekend.
Sophomore Sadie Rose placed first in the 200 (25.27) and 300 (40.78), setting program records in both events while also notching an Atlantic Region Championship-qualifying time. Senior Katie Cobos won the 5,000 with an Atlantic Region Championship-qualifying time of 18:12.34. Junior Caroline Hill placed first in the 400 (1:00.47) and second in the 200 (26.26), qualifying for the Atlantic Region Championship in both events. The 4x400 relay team of sophomore Samantha Crisci, senior Violet Ameele, junior Justine Draper and Rose, placed first with a time of 4:17.29. Graduate pole vaulter Catherine Fox placed first with a height of 3.55m, qualifying for the Atlantic Region Championship. Junior Allison Regnante placed second in the 60 hurdles with an Atlantic Region Championship-qualifying time of 9.45.
RIT competes in Brockport's Multi Invitational Friday and Saturday.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Tigers went 1-1 this past weekend, losing to RPI 63-44 Friday, before beating William Smith 71-60 on Saturday.
Senior guard Emma Waite had a team-high 17 points in Friday's loss and also had a team-high 13 points in Saturday's win. Also on Saturday, first-year forward Faye Kaplinski had 12 points, sophomore guard Erin DiPaola had 11 points, while first-year guards Ella Wilson and Lauren Sabia had 10 points each.

MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
The Tigers competed against Geneseo and Rochester on Saturday.
Head-to-head, RIT defeated Geneseo, 178-121, and also beat Rochester, 234-64. The Tigers finished first in 10 events. Graduate student Theo Heilman and junior Ben Sippel won two events each. Heilman took first in the 1,000 freestyle (10:05.13) and also won the 500 freestyle (4:53.25). Sippel placed first in the 100 breaststroke (58.01) and the 200 breaststroke (2:08.99).The 200 medley relay team of senior Drew Scheib, Sippel, junior Jake Sapp and senior Mike Atanasoff earned first place. Sapp, junior Kai Louie, Atanasoff and Scheib were on the winning 400 medley relay team as well.
RIT closes out the regular season at Hobart on Saturday.

The Tigers competed against Geneseo and Rochester on Saturday.
Head-to-head, RIT lost to Geneseo, 158-141 and defeated Rochester, 210-89. The Tigers finished first in seven events. Junior Anna Peshenko won the 200 breastroke (2:27.94) and the 200 IM (2:15.06). The 200 medley relay team of first-year Rose LaDue, senior Samantha Russell, first-year Anna Beahan and sophomore Sydney DeLapp placed first. The 400 free relay team consisting of DeLapp, Russell, senior Emma Thomas and Beahan also earned first place.
