Men's Hockey shutout at Bentley, 5-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – The RIT Men's Hockey Team lost 5-0 at Bentley in Atlantic Hockey play, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Bentley opened the scoring with two goals in the first 2:38 of the game. Sam Duerr scored on a short one-timer from outside the left post 1:25 into the contest before Kellan Hjartarson tipped a shot from the point under Tiger junior goaltender Trent Burnham's stick 1:13 later.
  • The Falcons took a 3-0 lead early in the second. Tucker Hodgson dug a puck off the end boards behind the Tiger net and skated out to the right faceoff circle for a wrist shot that scored inside the far post with 1:45 elapsed.
  • Bentley made it a 4-0 game with 4:30 in the second after Duerr slid a puck from the point to the right faceoff circle where Oskar Bakkevig whipped a shot on goal that scored inside the right post.
  • Bentley scored the lone goal of the third after Chase Davis tracked down a loose puck behind the Tiger net and flipped a puck around the right post to the crease that deflected off a RIT defenseman and through first-year goaltender Ethan David's pads with 12:36 on the clock. 

GAME NOTES

  • RIT had not been shutout since a 2-0 loss to visiting Mercyhurst on Nov. 11, 2023.
  • David made his first appearance in a Tiger sweater, totaling 24 saves in 38:15 of work off the bench in relief of Burnham.
  • Bentley finished with a 39-19 shot advantage
  • RIT killed five Bentley power plays while finishing 0-for-3 with the extra man.
  • RIT lost its fifth-straight game – the longest slide since falling five times in a row during the 2018-19 campaign.
