Women's Hockey falls 1-0 at home to Syracuse

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's hockey team lost 1-0 to Syracuse in Atlantic Hockey America action, Saturday.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Syracuse's Nea Tervonen scored 1:42 into the first period to give the Orange an early lead.
  • Senior forward Kylie Aquaro had a shot from the slot at 11:54 of the opening frame saved by Syracuse goalie Allie Kelley and senior forward Jordyn Bear had a chance at 13:27 turned aside by the Orange netminder.
  • RIT outshot Syracuse 7-3 in the second period. First year forward Ireland Stein had her shot saved from the slot at 9:20 of the second period by Kelley.
  • The Tigers outshot Syracuse 16-5 in the third period.
  • Bear and senior forward Athena Vasdani each had shots inside the final five minutes, while first forward Brac Kelley had a shot on net inside the final 30 seconds turned away by Kelley.

 
GAME NOTES

  • RIT outshot Syracuse 33-13
  • The Tigers went 0-for-3 on the power play, while Syracuse was 0-for-2
  • Junior goalie Sophia Bellina made 12 saves in net.
