Men's Hockey falls 5-1 to visiting Army

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT lost a 5-1 decision to visiting Army in Atlantic Hockey America action, Friday

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Army struck 2:06 into the first off a turnover behind the Tiger net that Adam Marshall scored over Tiger first-year goaltender Jakub Krbecek's stick.
  • RIT responded just over two minutes later after graduate student forward Nick Cafarelli checked a Black Knight along the leftwing boards in the neutral zone as he attempted to play a puck back into the Tiger end. Senior forward Tanner Andrew intercepted the pass and broke the other way before sliding a pass to a junior forward Simon Isabelle in the right faceoff circle for a finish under Army goaltender JJ Cataldo's stick.
  • Army retook the lead at 10:10. Joey Baez knocked down a Tiger pass in the neutral zone and fed the puck to Nik Hong down the right wing. Hong slid a puck to the slot for a finish by an open Brent Keefer under Krbecek's glove.
  • The Black Knights made it a 3-1 lead after a shot from the point by Mac Gadowsky deflected through a crowd and off the skate of a RIT player in front of the crease past a screened Krbecek.
  • Army scored the lone goal of the second period for a 4-1 lead. Jon Bell flipped a pass from behind the Tiger net to Adam Marshal in front of the right post for a short finish to complete a rush at 14:03.
  • The Black Knights closed the night at 11:48 of the third after Hunter McCoy tipped home a shot on the crease behind Krbecek off a cross-ice feed from the right faceoff circle by Bell.

  • Isabelle tallied his team-leading sixth goal of the season.
  • Krbecek finished the night with 31 saves for his sixth game in as many outings with at least 30 saves to start his Tiger career.
