Men's Basketball falls to Utica, 73-67

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT Men's Basketball team lost to Utica, 73-67, in the Harold J. Brodie Classic championship game, Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After going into halftime trailing Utica, 28-27, RIT would take the lead early in the second half with a quick 5-2 burst over the first minute and a half.
  • With 11:53 remaining, the Pioneers went on a 9-0 run to take a 52-45 lead.
  • Senior guard Chase Dickens converted a three-point play with 2:47 left on the clock after drawing a foul on a made layup to make cut Utica's lead to eight points. However, the effort wouldn't spur a late rally for RIT as the Pioneers went 5 of 6 from the free-throw line to seal the win.

GAME NOTES

  • Dickens led RIT with a game-high 21 points, going 7 of 18 from the field and a perfect 3 of 3 at the free-throw line. The guard also hit 4 of 9 from beyond three-point line.
  • Fifth year forward Kenny Wilburn recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds as senior guard Matt Caggiano notched 17 points for the Tigers.
